The Sphinx's Secret Friend

Lila skipped through the golden sand, her long curly hair bouncing with each step. She loved exploring the desert near her home, especially on days when the sun painted everything amber.

Today she discovered something amazing—a shining pyramid tucked between two dunes! Its stone walls glittered like stars.

"Hello, little one," purred a voice. Lila looked up. A sphinx sat beside the pyramid! It had the body of a lion and the face of a wise woman, with enormous feathery wings.

"I'm Lila!" she cheered. "What's inside the pyramid?"

The sphinx sighed. "My best friend, Prince Kairo. He's been wandering inside for a hundred years, moving like a zombie because he touched cursed magical water. Only water from the Moon Spring can wake him."

"I'll help!" Lila declared. Her grandma had taught her about the Moon Spring.

The sphinx smiled. "Your hair glimmers with kindness. Come."

They crept through cool passages. Prince Kairo walked in slow circles, eyes glazed, arms stiff. He looked like a sleepy zombie, but not scary—just confused.

"Wait here!" Lila dashed back outside, where a small pool of moonlight water shimmered. She filled her hollow gourd and raced back.

"Kairo," she whispered, splashing the glowing water over him.

The prince blinked. His face brightened. "What happened?"

"You were zombie-walking for a century!" said the sphinx, hugging him.

Kairo laughed. "Next time, I'll stick to regular water!"

Lila beamed. Some adventures are best shared with new friends.
