The Sphinx's Orange Riddle

Lily was playing with her iPhone in her backyard when she noticed something strange - an orange light shimmering behind the old oak tree. Curious, she crept closer and found herself tumbling through a magical portal into a world where everything glowed with golden light.

Before her stood a magnificent sphinx with emerald eyes and wings like sunset clouds. "I am the Guardian of the Golden Grove," the sphinx spoke in a voice like gentle thunder. "Only those who solve my riddle may taste the enchanted oranges that grant one special wish."

Lily nodded bravely, though her heart fluttered like a trapped butterfly.

The sphinx's riddle was this: "What has a heart but no pulse, speaks without words, and connects souls across great distances?"

Lily thought hard. Then she remembered her iPhone - it could call her grandma far away, show pictures that made her feel happy, and let her share love with friends.

Then, from the shadows emerged a small green zombie who looked more sad than scary. "I used to have friends," he sniffled, "but they all ran away when I turned green."

Lily smiled and held his hand. "You're not scary - you're just lonely! I'll be your friend."

The zombie's eyes lit up like tiny lanterns. "Really?"

Suddenly, a magnificent bull with a coat like storm clouds and horns made of crystal stepped from the orange grove. "The answer to the riddle is LOVE," the bull declared wisely. "Love has a heart but needs no pulse, speaks through kindness without words, and connects souls across any distance."

The sphinx nodded, and the orange trees parted to reveal the most beautiful oranges Lily had ever seen - each one glowing with golden light. She picked one and gave it to her new zombie friend. "Make your wish!"

The zombie wished for friends who would see his heart, not his green skin. The orange's magic spread through the grove, and soon other magical creatures appeared - dancing pixies, playful unicorns, and gentle giants who all wanted to be friends.

"Remember," the sphinx whispered as Lily prepared to return home, "true friendship sees with the heart, not the eyes. The iPhone can connect you across distances, but love connects hearts forever."

Lily stepped back through the portal, her iPhone now filled with magical photos of her new friends, and a special orange in her pocket that glowed whenever she felt lonely - reminding her that friendship is the greatest magic of all.
