The Sphinx's Midnight Library

Mia loved the old leather book she found in her attic. It had a golden sphinx on the cover, and when she opened it at midnight, the pages began to glow.

Suddenly, she tumbled right into the book!

"Welcome, young reader," purred a magnificent sphinx with emerald eyes. "I am Seraphina, guardian of the Midnight Library. But oh dear, we have a problem!"

"What's wrong?" Mia asked.

"Our friend Boris has been cursed," Seraphina said sadly. "He was turned into a zombie by a grumpy wizard who didn't like that Boris was too slow."

A lumbering figure shuffled toward them. Boris had messy green hair, purple skin, and moved like he was walking through honey.

"Bbboris... sssorry... ssslow," he mumbled, looking very sad.

Then a big fuzzy bear waddled out from behind a bookshelf. "I'm Bertha! Boris isn't slow because he's lazy. He's slow because he notices EVERYTHING. Look!" Bertha pointed. "He's studying that beautiful spiderweb."

Mia looked closely. Boris was indeed watching a tiny spider spin its web with wonder.

"The wizard was wrong," Seraphina said. "Boris isn't cursed at all. He's just... careful. And that's a wonderful thing."

Mia had an idea. "What if we make Boris the Official Library Inspector? His slowness is actually super careful observation!"

Boris's purple face lit up. "I... I can hhhhelp?"

"YES!" cheered Bertha the bear, giving Boris a big fuzzy hug.

Seraphina waved her golden wings, and sparkles filled the air. Boris's green hair became neat and tidy, though he still moved at his own careful pace. But now he walked proudly.

"Thank you, Mia," Seraphina said. "You taught us something important. Being different isn't bad—it's just different. And sometimes, what seems like a problem is actually a gift."

Mia hugged Bertha, waved to Boris and Seraphina, and tumbled back into her room, the book now warm in her hands. She opened it and saw new words written on the first page: "Thank you for understanding that everyone belongs."

Mia smiled and placed the book on her nightstand, ready for another midnight adventure.
