The Sphinx's Messy Hair Day
Lily loved exploring the old library behind her house. One rainy afternoon, she found a dusty book about magical creatures. When she opened it, a sparkly puff of purple smoke drifted out!
"Hello there!" squeaked a tiny voice. Out popped a little green creature with messy orange hair sticking up every which way. "I'm Zim the Zombie—but don't worry! I'm not scary. I'm a ZOMBIE who helps people remember things they've forgotten!"
Lily giggled. Zim's hair was so wild and fluffy, it looked like an orange cotton candy explosion. "Nice to meet you, Zim! I'm Lily."
"I need your help!" Zim said. "The Great Sphinx has forgotten her favorite riddle, and without it, she can't guard the magical library garden. Will you come with me?"
Lily's eyes twinkled. An adventure! She grabbed her rainbow backpack and followed Zim through a secret door in the library wall.
They walked through a glowing tunnel filled with floating books and whispering pages. When they reached the end, there was the most beautiful garden Lily had ever seen. Flowers changed colors when you looked at them, and trees grew fruit that sparkled like tiny stars.
In the center sat a magnificent Sphinx with golden fur and wise amber eyes. But she looked very sad.
"Oh dear," the Sphinx sighed. "I've forgotten my riddle for seven hundred and three years. How will I test the brave adventurers who come seeking wisdom?"
Zim hopped onto the Sphinx's paw. "I brought Lily! Maybe she can help us remember!"
Lily thought hard. She remembered what her grandma always said: "The best answers come from a kind heart."
"Maybe the answer isn't a forgotten riddle," Lily said bravely. "Maybe it's a new one! One that makes people smile instead of worry!"
The Sphinx's eyes widened. "A riddle that brings joy? What a wonderful idea!"
Together, they made up a silly riddle about a zombie who loved hair and a sphinx who loved questions. When they finished, the Sphinx laughed—a sound like bells ringing.
"Thank you, Lily and Zim! You've taught me something important: sometimes the best magic comes from friendship, not ancient memories."
From that day on, whenever Lily visited the magical garden, she'd find Zim (who finally learned to comb his hair) and the Sphinx, asking new riddles to every adventurer who came by.
And Lily learned that even when things seem forgotten, you can always create something new and wonderful—together with friends.
