The Sphinx's Magical Riddle
Lily loved exploring the old attic with her golden retriever, Buster. One rainy afternoon, she found something strange - a dusty padel paddle with glowing blue patterns swirling around its handle.
"What do you think this is, Buster?" she asked, scratching behind his ears.
Buster barked and pawed at a thick cable that lay coiled beside the paddle. It sparkled like stardust!
Suddenly, the attic filled with golden light. A magnificent sphinx appeared, with the body of a lion and the face of a wise woman. Her feathers shimmered like a rainbow.
"Young seeker," the sphinx spoke gently, "you've found the Friendship Padel. Answer my riddle, and you shall receive a gift."
Lily's heart raced but she nodded bravely.
The sphinx's eyes twinkled. "I have four legs in the morning, two at noon, and three in the evening. What am I?"
Buster sat beside Lily, his warm weight giving her courage. She thought about all the stories her grandmother had told her. Morning... noon... evening...
"A person!" Lily exclaimed. "A baby crawls on four legs, grown-ups walk on two, and elderly people use a cane!"
The sphinx smiled, and her feathers glowed brighter. "Correct! Your heart is pure and your mind is sharp. This magical cable connects friends across any distance. When you need me, just touch the padel and think of friendship."
Lily hugged Buster. "Thank you!"
The sphinx vanished in a swirl of golden sparkles. Now, whenever Lily felt lonely, she'd touch the glowing padel, and somehow, she always knew just what to do to make a new friend.
And Buster? He'd just wag his tail, because he knew the best magic of all was a friend who loved you.
