The Sphinx's Magical Pool

Mia loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, while rummaging through dusty boxes, she found something peculiar—an old iPhone covered in sparkly stickers. But this wasn't like any phone she'd seen before.

When Mia touched the screen, it didn't show apps or games. Instead, it crackled with tiny bolts of blue lightning that danced across her fingertips! The phone grew warm in her hands, and suddenly, a map appeared on the screen. It showed a path from her house to somewhere behind the old garden shed.

Mia grabbed her yellow raincoat and splashed outside. Following the magical iPhone's guidance, she pushed aside the overgrown vines behind the shed. There, hidden from view for years, was a beautiful crystal pool.

The water shimmered like liquid diamonds. But the most amazing part was what lay beside it—a golden sphinx with emerald eyes, watching her kindly.

"Welcome, young adventurer," the sphinx spoke in a voice like gentle bells. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find this magical pool."

Mia's eyes widened. "You're a sphinx! Like from my storybook!"

The sphinx smiled. "Indeed. This pool grants wishes, but only to those who prove themselves worthy. Would you like to try?"

Mia nodded eagerly.

"First, you must answer my riddle," the sphinx said. "I have cities, but no houses. I have mountains, but no trees. I have water, but no fish. What am I?"

Mia thought hard. Then it came to her—a map! Just like the one on the magical iPhone!

"A map!" she exclaimed.

"Correct!" The sphinx's emerald eyes glowed brighter. "You may make one wish."

Mia looked at the pool, then at the sphinx. She thought about wishing for toys, or candy, or even a magical adventure. But then she remembered how lonely she'd felt before discovering this magic.

"I wish," Mia said, "that every child who feels lonely could find a magical friend like you."

The sphinx's eyes twinkled with delight. The pool's water swirled with rainbow colors as tiny sparkles floated upward, spreading across the sky like magic dust.

"A wise wish," the sphinx said. "True magic is found in kindness and friendship."

That night, Mia fell asleep with the magical iPhone under her pillow, dreaming of all the children who would soon discover their own magical adventures. And every time lightning flashed outside her window, she knew the sphinx was smiling down on the world, granting friendship wishes to lonely hearts everywhere.
