The Sphinx's Magical Pool

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's old swimming pool. But today, something magical happened. As she dipped her toes in the cool water, a golden spark floated up from the bottom of the pool.

The spark grew bigger and brighter until it formed a creature Lily had only seen in books—a sphinx! But this sphinx was different. Instead of ancient scrolls, she held a small glowing rectangle that looked just like Lily's mom's iphone.

"Hello, young friend," the sphinx said with a warm smile. "I've been waiting for someone with an imagination as big as yours."

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk? And is that an iphone?"

"It's a magical version," the sphinx giggled. "It shows me riddles from around the world. Would you like to play a game? I'll be the spy, and you must solve my riddles. If you win, you'll discover the pool's secret magic."

Lily nodded excitedly. "I'm ready!"

The sphinx tapped her magical device. "First riddle: I have cities, but no houses. I have mountains, but no trees. I have water, but no fish. What am I?"

Lily thought hard. Then she gasped. "A map!"

"Correct!" The sphinx clapped her paws together. "One more challenge: I'm full of holes, but I can still hold water. What am I?"

"A sponge!" Lily shouted.

"Wonderful!" The sphinx beamed. "You've proven yourself clever and kind. Now, for your reward..." She waved her paw, and the pool water began to sparkle like diamonds.

"Whenever you visit, this pool will show you magical stories from everywhere. Just look into the water and believe."

Lily peered into the pool and saw mermaids dancing, dragons flying, and children laughing in magical lands. She knew she had found not just a magical pool, but a true friend who would make every visit an adventure.

From that day on, Lily learned that the best magic isn't in devices or even in riddles—it's in friendship and believing in the impossible.
