The Sphinx's Magical Phone

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something peculiar behind a stack of old books—a small stone sphinx with emerald eyes, no bigger than her hand.

"Hello, little one," the sphinx said, stretching its stone wings.

Lily gasped. "You can talk!"

"I can do many things," the sphinx purred. "But I've been sleeping for one hundred years. What year is this?"

Lily pulled out her iPhone to show the sphinx. "It's 2026. See? This is my phone."

The sphinx's emerald eyes widened. "A magical mirror that glows and holds all the world's knowledge! Marvelous!"

Just then, something tumbled out of an old trunk. It was a stuffed zombie doll with rainbow hair and a missing button eye. The doll shimmied and shook.

"Brains?" the zombie squeaked. "Just kidding—I mean hugs! I haven't had a hug in centuries!"

"This is Zombily," the sphinx explained. "She's not scary at all. She's actually quite wonderful at riddles."

"I love riddles!" Lily clapped. "Let's be friends!"

The three new friends spent the afternoon playing. The sphinx told ancient stories, Zombily made rainbow bracelets from old yarn, and Lily showed them funny videos on her phone. They laughed so hard that Lily's grandmother came upstairs to investigate.

"I see you've found my old friends," Grandma smiled. "They were my magical companions when I was your age. Every generation needs to learn their secret."

"What secret?" Lily asked.

The sphinx spoke gently. "That true magic isn't in phones or ancient spells. The real magic is friendship—opening your heart to those who seem different, even a stone sphinx and a silly zombie."

Lily hugged both her new friends tight. She had found something better than any treasure—friendship that would last forever.
