The Sphinx's Magical Match

Lily loved spending Saturdays at the park, especially watching her big brother play padel. The game looked like so much fun — players hitting a ball back and forth with special racquets, laughing and running across the blue court.

One sunny afternoon, while Lily waited for her brother's lesson to end, she wandered near the old stone fountain at the park's edge. There, something amazing caught her eye. A tiny sphinx, no bigger than a kitten, sat perched on the fountain's rim!

The sphinx had shimmering golden fur, tiny wings that sparkled like diamonds, and wise eyes that twinkled with mischief.

"Hello, little one," the sphinx said in a voice like chimes in the breeze. "I'm Cleo. Are you here to solve my riddle?"

Lily's eyes went wide. "A real riddle? Like in stories?"

Cleo nodded. "If you solve it, I'll grant you one wish. But be warned — my riddles are tricky!"

"I'm ready!" Lily said bravely.

Cleo thought for a moment, then recited: "I'm green and leafy, small but strong. I make your muscles grow all day long. What am I?"

Lily thought hard. She loved helping her mom cook dinner. Green... leafy... strong... suddenly, she smiled!

"Spinach!" she cheered. "My mom says it's like magic for your body!"

Cleo clapped her tiny paws. "Correct! You're very clever. Now, what is your wish?"

Lily looked at the padel courts where kids were playing. She thought about asking to be the best player ever. But then she remembered something her grandmother always said: the best wishes help others too.

"I wish..." Lily said carefully, "that everyone who plays here feels happy, whether they win or lose. Because sports should be about fun and friendship!"

Cleo's wings glowed brighter than ever. "That, my dear, is the wisest wish I've ever heard."

The sphinx sprinkled golden dust over the park. From that day on, something magical happened at the padel courts. Every game ended with high-fives and laughter. Winners congratulated losers, and losers smiled because they'd played their best.

Lily grew up to be not just a great padel player, but a kind one who always shared her snacks — including spinach wraps — with new friends.

And sometimes, if you visit the park at sunset, you might still see tiny Cleo watching from the fountain, her wise eyes twinkling with pride.
