The Sphinx's Magical Game
Lila was exploring her grandmother's dusty attic when she found something strange—a golden cable, no thicker than a shoelace, glimmering in a wooden chest. When she touched it, the cable began to pull her forward, like a friendly dog wanting to play.
"Follow me," the cable seemed to hum, and Lila did.
It led her through a tiny door that had never been there before, down a sparkling staircase, and into the most incredible place she had ever seen. An underground lake glowed with soft blue light, and floating in the center was a small island with an ancient stone sphinx.
The sphinx wasn't scary at all. She had the kind face of a grandmother and eyes that twinkled like stars.
"Hello, Lila," the sphinx said. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to follow the golden cable. My name is Cleo, and I need a friend to help me."
Cleo explained that she guarded the Magic Lake of Dreams, but she was lonely. The magical water kept everyone happy, but no one ever visited her anymore. She showed Lila a padel racket made of moonlight and starlight.
"This is a Dream Padel," Cleo explained. "Hit the dream bubbles that float up from the lake, and beautiful things happen. But I can't reach them all by myself."
Lila's eyes widened. "I'd love to help!"
Together, Lila went swimming in the warm, magical water while Cleo floated above. Dream bubbles rose from the deep—pink, purple, and golden, each containing a wonderful wish. Lila would splash them toward the shore, and Cleo would gently tap them with her moonlight padel, sending them floating up into the world above to bring sweet dreams to children.
They laughed and played until the moon began to fade. As Lila prepared to leave, Cleo gave her a small silver pendant shaped like a sphinx.
"Whenever you need a friend or a wonderful dream," Cleo whispered, "just hold this tight."
Lika followed the golden cable back through the tiny door, which vanished behind her. But every night, she touches her sphinx pendant and smiles, knowing that somewhere below, in a magical lake, her friend is waiting for their next game of dream padel.
And sometimes, just before she falls asleep, she hears the soft splash of water and a gentle ping—like a moonlight racket hitting a dream bubble just for her.
