The Sphinx's Magical Cable Car
Lily hated spinach. Every time her mom served it, she would run to her room and hide under her bed. But today was different.
While running away from her dinner, Lily noticed something strange — a golden cable appeared out of nowhere, stretching from her bedroom window up into the clouds. Her curly hair tingled with magic as she climbed onto the cable car that waited outside.
"Going up!" called a voice. The car zoomed through the sky until it reached a floating island. There sat the most magnificent creature Lily had ever seen — a sphinx with emerald-green feathers and wise, golden eyes.
"Welcome, Lily," the sphinx purred. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to visit."
"You knew I was coming?" Lily gasped.
"The Great Cable knows everything," the sphinx winked. "But I need your help. My magical hair has lost its sparkle because I forgot something important."
The sphinx pointed to a mirror. Her beautiful golden hair looked dull and gray.
"What happened?" Lily asked.
"I stopped eating my special greens," the sphinx admitted sheepishly. "I didn't think they mattered."
Lily's eyes widened. "Like spinach?"
"Exactly like spinach!" The sphinx laughed. "Magic foods give magic power. Will you help me remember?"
Lily thought about all the times she'd refused to eat her vegetables. Maybe they weren't so bad after all.
"I'll help!" she declared. "But first, you have to promise to try spinach again."
"Deal!" said the sphinx.
Together, they soared back down the cable. When Lily sat at her dinner table that night, she ate every bite of her spinach. To her surprise, it wasn't yucky at all — it tasted like adventure!
From that day on, Lily never ran away from spinach again. And sometimes, if she looked closely at her cable car rides through the clouds, she could see the sphinx's golden hair shining brighter than ever, twinkling like a star that whispered: "Thank you, friend."
