The Sphinx's Magic Vitamins
Leo loved spending summer days at his grandmother's house, especially exploring her mysterious garden. One afternoon, while chasing a blue butterfly near the old fish pond, he discovered something amazing.
Behind a weeping willow tree stood a small stone sphinx, no bigger than a garden gnome. But this sphinx wasn't ordinary — it had emerald eyes that sparkled like tiny stars, and when Leo got closer, the sphinx winked at him!
"Hello there, young explorer!" said the sphinx in a voice like wind chimes. "I'm Cleo, and I'm in a terrible pickle."
Leo's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"Of course! But I've lost something very important — my magic riddle vitamins. Without them, I can't think of good riddles to share with children who visit this garden."
Leo wanted to help. "Where did you last see them?"
"I was swimming in the pond yesterday when I dropped my bottle," Cleo explained sadly. "The vitamins floated down to the bottom, and I'm not good at swimming in deep water."
Leo loved swimming! "I'll help you find them!"
He jumped into the cool pond, diving down into the crystal-clear water. Colorful fish darted around him like swimming rainbows. Near the bottom, he spotted something glowing — a purple bottle! But getting there wouldn't be easy.
Leo swam like a secret spy, moving quietly so he wouldn't scare the fish away. He reached for the bottle, but a curious frog hopped on it first!
"Please, Mr. Frog," Leo whispered. "Cleo needs her vitamins."
The frog seemed to understand and hopped away. Leo grabbed the bottle and swam back to the surface, dripping but triumphant.
"You found them!" Cleo cheered. "Thank you, Leo! You swam like a dolphin and moved as stealthy as a spy!"
Leo handed over the vitamins. Cleo took one and immediately her eyes twinkled brighter. "Now I have a riddle for you: What has hands but can't clap?"
Leo thought hard. "A clock!"
"Correct!" Cleo smiled. "You've taught me something important — sometimes asking for help is the bravest thing to do. And that's a better lesson than any riddle."
From that day on, Leo visited Cleo every summer. They would swim together, solve riddles, and always help each other — because that's what true friends do.
