The Sphinx's Magic Vitamin

Lily loved running through the Whispering Woods, her bare feet pattering on soft moss. But today, something made her stop. Behind an ancient oak tree stood a zombie—but not like the scary ones in stories. This zombie had round glasses, a friendly smile, and bright orange hair tied in ribbons.

"Hello!" said the zombie. "I'm Zara. I've forgotten something important."

Lily approached slowly. Zara wasn't scary at all—she looked more like a confused grandmother who'd lost her glasses.

"What did you forget?" Lily asked.

"How to be a friend," Zara sighed. "I've been wandering for three hundred years, and everyone runs away before I can remember."

Just then, golden wings fluttered overhead. A magnificent sphinx descended, her fur shimmering like morning sunlight. She had the head of a wise woman and gentle amber eyes.

"I am Seraphina, guardian of the woods," the sphinx said. "I know what you need, Zara. You need the Friendship Vitamin."

"Is that real?" Lily's eyes went wide.

Seraphina nodded solemnly. "It grows only on the highest peak of Moonlight Mountain, in a garden where stars fall like rain. Each vitamin sparkles like a tiny sun. One bite, and you remember everything joy and kindness ever taught you."

"I'll go with you!" Lily grabbed Zara's hand. It was cool but gentle, like smooth river stones.

They set off running—Zara surprisingly fast, her orange ribbons streaming behind her. They climbed past clouds that tasted like cotton candy, crossed bridges made of rainbows, and finally reached the star-garden at dawn.

There it was: a single glowing vitamin on a silver bush, pulsing with warmth.

Zara took it hesitantly. As soon as she swallowed, a golden light burst from her chest. Her skin pinkened, her eyes sparkled, and suddenly she was radiantly alive.

"I remember!" Zara laughed, spinning Lily in a joyous dance. "I remember laughter, and tea parties, and sharing cookies, and holding hands when someone is sad. Thank you both."

Seraphina appeared beside them, smiling. "The magic wasn't just the vitamin. It was taking the journey together."

And that's how Lily gained two extraordinary friends: a sphinx who taught her that true magic lives in kindness, and Zara, who became the best friend a girl could ever wish for—someone who would never, ever forget how precious friendship truly is.

Every weekend, they still go running through Whispering Woods together, sometimes looking for magic, sometimes just being grateful they found each other.
