The Sphinx's Magic Vitamin

Lily's cat Whiskers was no ordinary kitty. Every afternoon at exactly 3:00, he would trot to the old palm tree in their backyard and meow at the stone sphinx statue beneath it.

One sunny Tuesday, Lily followed Whiskers. To her surprise, the sphinx opened one golden eye!

"Hello, small human," the sphinx rumbled softly. "Your cat has been visiting me for months. He tells me you're kind to all creatures."

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

"Indeed," the sphinx nodded. "But I need your help. In the garden behind the old library, there lives a zombie named Zeb."

Lily gasped.

"Oh, don't worry!" the sphinx purred. "Zeb isn't scary. He's just very lonely and tired. You see, Zeb forgot to eat his vegetables when he was alive, and now he's always grumpy and slow."

The sphinx stretched out a massive stone paw. In the center of its palm sat a glowing orange pill.

"This is a Magic Friendship Vitamin," the sphinx explained. "It won't just help Zeb feel better—it will help him make friends. But I need someone brave and kind to give it to him."

Whiskers rubbed against Lily's leg, purring encouragingly.

"I'll do it!" Lily said, taking the vitamin. It felt warm and tingly in her hand.

Behind the library, she found Zeb sitting sadly on a bench. He looked green and gray, but his eyes were gentle.

"Hello," Lily said bravely. "I brought you something."

Zeb looked up, surprised. "For me?"

Lily held out the vitamin. "The sphinx said this will help you feel better. And..." She smiled. "I'd like to be your friend."

As Zeb took the vitamin, something wonderful happened. His gray skin turned rosy, his eyes sparkled, and he stood up straight.

"I feel... happy!" Zeb exclaimed. "Thank you!"

From that day on, Zeb, Lily, and Whiskers had adventures together. They learned that kindness is the strongest magic of all, and that even the loneliest hearts just need a friend—and sometimes a vitamin—to bloom again.

The sphinx watched from the palm tree, smiling. Sometimes, he thought, the best adventures start with an open heart and a brave little girl who isn't afraid of making friends in unexpected places.
