The Sphinx's Magic Vitamin

Lily was the neighborhood's youngest spy. At seven years old, she wore her detective hat everywhere—a floppy blue cap with pretend binoculars sewn on the sides. Her trusted partner was Barnaby, a golden dog with one floppy ear and a nose that could smell mystery from three blocks away.

One afternoon, while spying on the mysterious garden behind Old Mr. Puddlewick's house, Lily discovered something impossible. Behind the overgrown roses sat a real sphinx, miniature as a kitten, with tiny paws and wings like a hummingbird.

"Please help!" squeaked the sphinx. "I'm Cleo, guardian of the Wonder Vitamin! It fell down the garden drain, and without it, all the neighborhood flowers will lose their magic colors!"

Lily had noticed something strange lately—daisies were turning gray, and roses weren't smelling sweet anymore. A real magical mystery!

"Barnaby, you track the scent!" Lily whispered. Barnaby's tail thumped excitedly. Together, the spy girl, her dog, and the tiny sphinx followed a trail of sparkling dust to the storm drain.

But the Vitamin was deep underground. "I'm too small to reach it," Cleo cried.

Lily had an idea. She tied her detective hat to Barnaby's collar, then lowered him carefully into the drain. Barnaby's tail found the glowing Vitamin—a tiny, crystal heart that pulsed with rainbow light.

When Cleo sprinkled the Wonder Vitamin over the garden, flowers burst into color. Sunflowers glowed gold, and roses turned every shade of pink imaginable.

"You saved wonder itself," Cleo said, touching her nose to Lily's forehead. "True spies use their powers for kindness, not just secrets."

That night, Lily fell asleep dreaming of adventures, while Barnaby dreamed of treats, and somewhere in the magical garden, Cleo the sphinx watched over them both, guardian of friendship and wonder.
