The Sphinx's Magic Pool

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's magical garden. One sunny afternoon, she followed a trail of glowing butterflies until she found something she'd never seen before — a shimmering blue pool hidden behind giant ferns.

An ancient sphinx with golden wings sat beside the water. "Welcome, young adventurer," the sphinx purred kindly. "This is the Wishing Pool. But first, you must share something with me."

Lily's eyes widened. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her favorite treat — a sweet papaya she'd picked that morning. "Would you like some?"

The sphinx smiled. "How thoughtful!" As she took a bite, the water began to bubble. From the pool emerged not a scary monster, but a friendly zombie named Zara who looked like a dancing green jellybean.

"Hello!" Zara waved excitedly. "I've been swimming here for five hundred years waiting for someone kind enough to share!"

The sphinx nodded. "The pool grants wishes to those who are generous. Zara was once selfish, and now she helps others learn the joy of giving."

Lily thought carefully. "I wish that everyone in my class could have a friend like Zara — someone who helps them remember that sharing makes us happier than keeping things for ourselves."

The pool sparkled brighter than ever. Zara did a happy splash dance. "Your wish is granted! And now I have new friends to play with!"

From that day on, whenever Lily shared her papaya snacks or toys, she noticed something magical — her smile grew bigger, her friends laughed more often, and sometimes, just sometimes, she'd see Zara doing a little splash dance in puddles after it rained.

Lily learned that the best magic isn't in wishes or pools. The real magic is in opening your heart and sharing what you have with others.
