The Sphinx's Magic Pool
Lily discovered the secret behind the old oak tree on a Tuesday afternoon. Pushing aside the tangled vines, she gasped. A stone **sphinx** sat beside a sparkling blue **pool**, its wings tucked peacefully at its sides. Unlike the scary sphinxes in her storybooks, this one wore a bright yellow party **hat**.
"Hello there!" the sphinx chirped, waving a paw. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find my magical pool."
Lily stepped closer, her heart fluttering like a trapped butterfly. The water shimmered with rainbow colors, and tiny fish made of actual light swam in circles.
"This pool shows you what you need most," the sphinx explained kindly. "But first, you must help someone else."
From the forest emerged a massive **bull** — but not a fierce one. This bull had tear-filled eyes and trembled like a leaf in the wind. He wore a collar studded with glittering stones that pulsed with worry.
"Please," the bull whispered. "I lost my courage **vitamin**. Without it, I can't protect my friends from the shadow wolves."
Lily knelt beside the gentle giant. "What's a courage vitamin?"
The sphinx smiled. "It grows right here, in this pool. But only someone with a truly kind heart can pick it."
Lily dipped her hand into the magical water. Her fingers brushed something smooth and round. When she pulled it out, a glowing golden fruit sat in her palm — the courage vitamin.
"Thank you," the bull said, his eyes widening. "But you should take the first bite. It only works when shared."
Lily took a tiny bite. Warmth spread through her chest, making her feel brave and strong. She fed the rest to the bull, who immediately stood taller, his fears melting away.
"Now," said the sphinx, adjusting her crooked party hat, "look in the pool one more time."
Lily gazed into the water. Instead of her reflection, she saw herself and the bull, standing together against shadow wolves, protecting the forest.
"You already have everything you need," the sphinx said wisely. "Kindness, courage, and good friends. That's the real magic."
And Lily knew the sphinx was right. The best adventures weren't about finding treasure — they were about finding friends and discovering courage she never knew she had.
