The Sphinx's Magic Pool
Lily loved exploring the old park behind her house. One sunny afternoon, she found something she'd never noticed before—a rusty cable car sitting on forgotten tracks, covered in vines. Something about it sparkled with magic.
Curious, Lily climbed inside. The cable car suddenly lurched forward on its own, whisking her away through a secret tunnel of sparkling lights. When it stopped, Lily gasped. Before her lay the most beautiful swimming pool she'd ever seen, but this was no ordinary pool. The water shimmered with rainbow colors, and tiny floating lanterns danced across the surface.
"Welcome, young adventurer," a gentle voice rumbled.
Lily turned to see a magnificent creature—a sphinx with golden fur and wise, kind eyes. Unlike scary pictures she'd seen, this sphinx smiled warmly.
"I'm Cleo," said the sphinx. "This is the Magic Pool of Wishes. But there's one rule: you must bring something of yourself to make a wish come true."
Lily thought hard. She'd brought her lunch—a spinach sandwich from her garden. "Will this work?" she asked, holding it out.
Celo's eyes twinkled. "Spinach! The vegetable of strength and growth! Perfect!"
The sphinx took a leaf of spinach and dropped it into the pool. The water glowed bright green, and suddenly, Lily felt stronger, braver, and more confident than ever before.
"The magic isn't just in the pool," Cleo whispered. "It's in believing in yourself. The spinach gave you strength, but YOU made the magic happen."
Lily realized something important: she'd always been brave enough for adventures. She just needed to believe it.
The cable car appeared again, ready to take her home. Lily hugged Cleo goodbye, promising to return. As she rode back, she knew the real magic wasn't in the pool or the sphinx—it was in her heart all along.
From that day on, Lily approached every adventure with courage, knowing that like the magic spinach, the power to grow and be brave was already inside her.
