The Sphinx's Magic Pool
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's backyard, especially the old stone **pool** hidden behind the rose bushes. It hadn't held water in years, but she pretended it was a portal to magical worlds.
One sunny afternoon, Lily sat by the pool, braiding her long curly **hair** into two neat plaits. Suddenly, the air shimmered like sugar on a cookie. A creature appeared—a magnificent **sphinx** with golden wings and wise, twinkling eyes.
"Hello, young adventurer," the Sphinx purred. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to visit my magical pool."
Lily's eyes widened. "You're real?"
"As real as friendship and imagination," the Sphinx replied. "But I'm lonely. My friends were scared of my riddles and left."
Then Lily noticed something sad in the corner of the garden—a little **zombie** with patchwork clothes and greenish skin, sitting all alone. The zombie waved shyly.
"That's Zara," the Sphinx explained. "She's not scary. She just wants friends, but everyone runs away."
Lily stood up and walked toward Zara. "Hi! I'm Lily. Do you want to play?"
Zara's face lit up. "Really? Nobody ever wants to play with me!"
The three new friends spent the afternoon playing magical games by the pool. Zara was funny and kind. The Sphinx told wonderful stories. And Lily learned something important: true friends look at hearts, not appearances.
"Sometimes," the Sphinx said wisely, "the scariest-looking creatures are the most gentle. And sometimes, magic happens when we're brave enough to say hello."
As the sun began to set, the Sphinx gave Lily a special blessing: "May you always see with your heart, not just your eyes."
Lily ran home with the biggest smile, already planning tomorrow's adventure with her two new friends. The old pool wasn't just a portal to magical worlds—it was where she discovered the magic of true friendship.
