The Sphinx's Magic Pool
Luna was a small cat with fluffy orange fur. She had the softest hair in the whole neighborhood, and all the children loved to pet her. But Luna had a secret — she could talk!
One hot summer day, Luna followed a butterfly deep into the woods. There, she discovered something amazing: a crystal-clear pool with water that sparkled like diamonds. But guarding it was a giant sphinx!
The sphinx had the body of a lion and the head of a wise old woman. "Welcome, little cat," the sphinx rumbled gently. "This is the Magic Pool of Wishes. But first, you must solve my riddle."
Luna's tail twitched nervously. "I'm ready!"
"What has eyes but cannot see?" the sphinx asked.
Luna thought and thought. She looked around at the pool. The water reflected everything like a mirror. "A potato!" she meowed. "No, wait — I mean a needle!"
The sphinx smiled. "Correct! You may make one wish."
Just then, a funny-looking creature stumbled out from behind a bush. It was a zombie — but not a scary one! He wore ragged clothes and had green skin, but his eyes were kind.
"Hello," the zombie said shyly. "I'm Zed. I was once a regular boy, but a wizard's spell went wrong. Now everyone runs away from me."
Luna felt sad for Zed. She looked at the magic pool, then at her new friend. She knew what to wish for.
"I wish for Zed to become a real boy again!" Luna declared.
The pool's water swirled with rainbow colors. Zed's green skin turned pink and healthy. His ragged clothes transformed into a bright blue shirt. He wasn't a zombie anymore — he was a regular boy!
"Thank you, Luna!" Zed cheered. "You're the best friend ever!"
The sphinx nodded approvingly. "You used your wish to help someone else. That is the greatest magic of all."
Luna, Zed, and the sphinx spent the rest of the afternoon playing by the magic pool. Luna learned that true friendship means helping others, even when you could wish for something for yourself.
From that day on, Luna visited the sphinx often. And whenever she saw someone in need, she remembered the magic pool and the importance of kindness.
After all, the best wishes are the ones we make for others.
