The Sphinx's Magic Orange Pool

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic on rainy afternoons. That day, she found something extraordinary — a purple velvet hat with tiny silver stars embroidered along the brim. When she placed it on her head, the attic swirled with golden sparkles!

Suddenly, Lily wasn't in the attic anymore. She stood beside a crystal-clear pool that shimmered like liquid diamonds. But the most amazing thing was what sat beside the water — a friendly sphinx with soft golden fur and kind amber eyes!

"Welcome, young adventurer," the sphinx purred gently. "I've been waiting for someone with a brave heart."

Lily wasn't scared. The sphinx looked like the biggest, fluffiest cat she'd ever seen! "Who are you?" she asked.

"I am Guardian of the Magic Pool," the sphinx replied. "This pool shows wonderful things to those who are pure of heart. Would you like to see?"

Lily nodded eagerly. The sphinx waved her paw, and the water began to ripple. Images danced across the surface — children playing, families laughing, friends helping each other. Then the water grew still, and something magical floated to the top. It was the most beautiful orange Lily had ever seen, glowing with inner light!

"This magic orange," the sphinx explained, "grants one wish. But choose carefully — the best wishes help others, not just yourself."

Lily thought hard. She could wish for endless candy, or a room full of toys, or to fly like a bird. But then she remembered the images in the pool.

"I wish," Lily said solemnly, "that every lonely child finds a friend to play with."

The sphinx smiled, and the orange burst into a million tiny sparkles that swirled around Lily like happy fireflies. The purple hat tingled warmly on her head.

"A wonderful choice," the sphinx said. "Your wish will travel on the wind, touching hearts everywhere."

With a final sparkle, Lily was back in the attic. The purple hat looked ordinary now, but when she touched it, she could feel its warmth. Running to the window, Lily saw something amazing — children who'd been playing alone were now pairing up, laughing and making friends.

Lily smiled, touching her magic hat. Sometimes the best adventures were the ones that helped others. And she knew, with the sphinx's gift in her heart, there would be many more magical days ahead.
