The Sphinx's Magic Mirror
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something strange—a shiny black rectangle that glowed like moonlight. It looked just like her mom's iPhone, but older, with mysterious symbols etched along its edges.
"What do you do?" Lily wondered aloud.
Suddenly, the device flared with golden light! A tiny sphinx no bigger than a teacup fluttered out, its wings sparkling like stardust.
"Thank you for waking me!" squeaked the sphinx. "I'm Cleo, and I've been asleep for a thousand years. That magic mirror—that's what your people call an iPhone now—held me safe until someone pure of heart found it."
Lily gasped. "You're MAGIC!"
Celo nodded. "Yes, but I'm lonely. Would you be my friend?"
"YES!" Lily cheered.
Then something tapped at the attic window—a green-skinned boy with patchy clothes and silly eyes. Lily gasped. "Is that a…?"
"A zombie?" The boy sighed, sounding sad. "I'm Zed. People call me that because I move slowly and my skin looks different. But I'm just enchanted! I'm not scary at all. I love gardening and reading stories."
Lily opened the window. "You can be our friend too!"
Zed's face lit up. "Really?"
"Really!" said Cleo. "Being different doesn't mean you're scary. It means you're special."
From that day on, the three friends had wonderful adventures. Cleo showed them hidden worlds through her magic mirror. Zed taught them about the secret lives of garden flowers. And Lily learned that the best friends are often the ones you least expect.
Grandma eventually found them having a tea party in the attic and smiled. "Some friendships are too magical to explain."
Lily hugged Cleo and Zed. She knew now that appearances never tell the whole story—and that friendship can bloom anywhere, even in an dusty old attic with a sphinx, a gentle zombie, and a very special magic iPhone.
