The Sphinx's Magic Hat

Lily loved her grandmother's stories about the old sphinx statue in the park. The sphinx had stood behind the palm trees for a hundred years, its stone eyes watching everyone who passed by.

One sunny afternoon, Lily found a peculiar purple hat beneath the palm tree. It sparkled with tiny stars, and when she put it on, her curly hair stood straight up! The hat whispered, "I can show you magic, but only if you're brave."

Lily's heart raced with excitement. "I'm brave!" she declared.

The sphinx's stone mouth suddenly moved. "Then answer my riddle, child. What makes you stronger when you're small, helps you grow tall, and comes in colors bright and fruity?"

Lily thought hard. She remembered her morning routine. "A vitamin!" she shouted.

The sphinx smiled, and stone cracked away like an eggshell. Inside was not a monster, but a tiny fairy with purple wings just like Lily's hat!

"You're correct!" the fairy cheered. "I was trapped for a century. The hat chose you because you're curious and kind."

The palm trees around them bent down, offering their leaves. Lily realized the vitamins she took every morning had given her something special—not just strength for her body, but magic in her heart. The curiosity that made her ask questions was the same magic that had freed the fairy.

"Always stay curious," the fairy said, landing on Lily's palm. "The world is full of riddles waiting to be solved by kind hearts."

Lily ran home, her hat glowing with adventure. She couldn't wait to see what magic tomorrow would bring.
