The Sphinx's Magic Garden
Lily's mom placed a plate of green spinach on the dinner table. 'You need to eat your vegetables,' she said gently. Lily wrinkled her nose. She was too excited about the mysterious glow coming from her iphone—it was showing a map to somewhere magical!
That night, when everyone was asleep, Lily followed the glowing map through her backyard. She squeezed through an old cable tunnel she'd never noticed before, and suddenly found herself in a enchanted garden.
There, resting on a golden pedestal, was a magnificent sphinx with the body of a lion and the head of a wise human. 'Welcome, young traveler,' the sphinx rumbled softly. 'I have been waiting for someone brave enough to visit my garden.'
Lily's eyes grew wide. 'Are you... real?'
The sphinx smiled warmly. 'I am as real as your imagination makes me. But look behind you—my garden is in trouble!' Lily turned to see a little zombie shuffling around. But this wasn't a scary monster. It was a Sleepy Zombie, barely able to keep his eyes open!
'The Sleepy Zombie hasn't been eating properly,' the sphinx explained sadly. 'He only eats magical spinach from my garden, but a fence blocks him from reaching it.'
Lily looked at the zombie, then at the tall fence surrounding the precious spinach patch. She remembered how she'd complained about eating her own spinach earlier that evening.
'Everyone needs good food to be strong and happy,' Lily said thoughtfully. 'Even magical creatures!'
With the sphinx's magic help, Lily used a glowing cable to create a bridge over the fence. The Sleepy Zombie happily crossed over and munched on the magical spinach leaves. His dull green skin turned bright and cheerful, and he began to dance!
'Thank you!' the zombie cheered. 'I feel wonderful now!'
The sphinx nodded approvingly. 'You've learned an important lesson today, Lily. The things we think are boring—like eating vegetables—might be exactly what someone else desperately needs.'
Lily smiled, feeling proud. When she returned home and crawled back through the cable tunnel, her iphone showed one last message: 'Real magic is helping others.'
The next morning, Lily ate every bite of her spinach without complaining—and she swore she saw it wink at her.
