The Sphinx's Magic Cable
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's dusty attic. One rainy afternoon, she discovered something she'd never noticed before—a thick, glittering cable disappearing through a tiny hole in the wall.
"What's this?" Lily wondered, giving the mysterious cable a gentle tug. To her astonishment, it began to glow with warm golden light. When she tugged again, the entire wall shimmered like moonlight on water, revealing a hidden passage.
Curious and brave, Lily followed the glowing cable through winding tunnels until she emerged into a vast underground chamber. There, resting upon a stone pedestal, sat the most magnificent creature she had ever seen—a sphinx with emerald-green wings and fur like spun sunshine.
"Welcome, young explorer," the sphinx spoke, her voice like gentle bells. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to follow my magic cable."
Lily's eyes widened. "You put that cable there?"
"Indeed," the sphinx nodded wisely. "It only appears for those with pure hearts and curious minds. For centuries, I have guarded the riddle of true friendship, but I have grown lonely with only my riddles for company."
The sphinx's large, kind eyes filled with hope. "Would you like to hear my riddle?"
"Yes!" Lily exclaimed.
"What connects hearts across any distance, cannot be bought or sold, and grows stronger every time it's shared?"
Lily thought carefully, her brow furrowed in concentration. Then her face lit up. "Friendship!"
"Correct!" The sphinx beamed, her wings fluttering with joy. "You have answered wisely. Now, will you be my friend?"
Lily hugged the sphinx's soft, warm neck. "Of course!"
From that day on, Lily visited her magical friend regularly, and the sphinx taught her that the strongest connections aren't cables or chains, but the bonds of friendship we choose to create.
