The Sphinx's Lightning Storm
In a meadow where the grass grew tall and sweet, there lived two best friends: Bella the bear and Barnaby the bull. Every afternoon, they met by the sparkling stream to share honey sandwiches and clover cookies.
One day, dark clouds gathered overhead. Lightning flashed across the sky in jagged golden streaks, and thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy. Bella shook with fear. Barnaby's hooves trembled.
"Follow me!" a mysterious voice called.
Perched on a mossy rock sat an ancient sphinx with emerald eyes and wings like sunrise. "I am Stella," she said. "The lightning is lost and frightened. It needs help finding its way back to the clouds."
"But lightning is scary," Bella whispered, hiding behind Barnaby's strong shoulder.
"Only when it's confused," Stella explained wisely. "Everything is scary when it's lost—even you, little bear. Even you, brave bull."
A bolt of lightning zigzagged toward them, its light sputtering like a dying candle. Bella gasped. Barnaby lowered his horns protectively.
"Speak kindly to it," Stella urged. "Ask how you can help."
"Hello, lightning," Bella said softly. "Are you afraid?"
The lightning paused, flickering softly. It seemed to nod.
"We can help you go home," Barnaby offered. "Climb on my back. I'm strong, and I can carry you to the highest cloud."
Carefully, the glowing bolt coiled around Barnaby's horns. Bella walked beside them, while Stella flew above, her wings lighting the path through the storm.
When they reached the mountaintop, the lightning sparkled with joy and shot upward, joining its family in the clouds. The storm broke, and rainbows arched across the sky.
"Thank you," Stella said. "You were both braver than you knew. Sometimes the scariest things just need a friend."
That night, Bella and Barnaby sat by their stream, watching the stars twinkle. Lightning flashed gently in the distance, no longer scary at all—just a friend saying hello from the clouds.
