The Sphinx's Lightning Gift

Maya loved her grandfather's stories, especially the ones about magical creatures. One rainy afternoon, as lightning flashed outside her window, she was playing on her iPhone when something strange happened.

A bolt of lightning struck right outside! The screen glowed golden, and suddenly a tiny sphinx popped out—no bigger than Maya's hand!

"Greetings, young one," the sphinx said in a voice like wind through desert palms. "I am Zara, guardian of the Vitamin of Wonder."

"Vitamin of Wonder?" Maya asked, her eyes wide.

"Yes!" Zara's lion tail twitched. "The most important vitamin of all. It makes ordinary days magical, helps you see beauty in everything, and makes your heart strong with joy."

Maya looked at her iPhone, then back at the magical sphinx. "But why did you come from my phone?"

"Because lightning carries magic between worlds," Zara explained, "and your heart was full of curiosity—the perfect bridge."

Maya's room filled with shimmering light as Zara taught her the secret: the Vitamin of Wonder comes from noticing small miracles—a spiderweb sparkling with dew drops, a flower growing through concrete, a friend's laughter.

"Will you stay?" Maya asked when Zara began to fade.

"I must return, but you carry the Vitamin now," Zara whispered. "Use it well, and wonder will follow you everywhere."

The sphinx disappeared in a sparkle of golden dust. Maya's iPhone looked ordinary again, but she knew better. Outside, the lightning storm had passed, leaving behind a rainbow.

From that day on, Maya saw magic everywhere—in sunshine, in snowflakes, in every "hello" shared with a friend. And whenever lightning flashed, she smiled, remembering the sphinx who taught her that the greatest vitamin of all was simply seeing wonder in the world.
