The Sphinx's Golden Secret
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's old house, where the garden felt like a whole magical world. One afternoon, while hiding behind the tallest **palm** tree, she noticed something incredible—a small stone **sphinx** with sparkling blue eyes was watching her!
"I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me," the sphinx said in a voice like wind chimes. "My name is Zephyr, and I need your help."
The sphinx had the most beautiful golden **hair** that shimmered in the sunlight like honey. But Zephyr looked worried.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked, stepping closer.
"I forgot my magic riddle," Zephyr admitted sheepishly. "Without it, I can't return to my family in the Cloud Kingdom. The answer is hidden somewhere in this garden, but I can't leave this spot to find it."
Lily's heart thumped with excitement. An adventure! "I'll help you!"
She started **running** through the garden, peeking under flower petals and behind bushes. But nothing seemed unusual until she spotted something strange hanging from the old oak tree—a rusty **cable** that disappeared into the tree's hollow trunk.
Curious, Lily gave the cable a gentle tug. A small door swung open in the tree, revealing a tiny scroll inside. It read: "What has to be broken before you can use it?"
Lily ran back to Zephyr. "A riddle! What has to be broken before you can use it?"
Zephyr's blue eyes sparkled. "An egg!"
Golden light swirled around the sphinx as Zephyr began to float upward like a dandelion in the wind. "Thank you, Lily! Your kindness and bravery will always be remembered."
"Will I ever see you again?" Lily called.
"Whenever you need courage," Zephyr's voice floated down, "just remember—you're braver than you know!"
That night, Lily found a small golden feather on her pillow. She kept it always, her secret reminder that even small people could do big, wonderful things. And every time she visited grandmother's garden, she looked up at the clouds, wondering if her friend was watching, and feeling brave enough for any adventure.
