The Sphinx's Golden Riddle

Lily loved brushing her long brown hair before bed, but tonight she heard something tap at her window. A fox with silver fur stood there! "Come with me," whispered the fox. "The Great Sphinx needs your help!"

Lily climbed onto the fox's back, and WHOOSH! They soared through starlight to a magical desert. There stood an enormous cat with wings—the Sphinx! Her eyes shone like moons.

"Please," said the Sphinx sadly, "I've forgotten my own riddle. Without it, I cannot protect the Dream Kingdom."

"I can help!" Lily said bravely. "What do you remember?"

The Sphinx thought. "I remember something about friendship... and golden hearts."

Suddenly, a bear tumbled out of the sky, covered in stardust! "Sorry!" he said. "I was chasing a shooting star and got lost."

This bear was tiny and blue—the kind that could fit in your pocket. He had the kindest eyes Lily had ever seen.

"Wait!" Lily gasped. "I have an idea!"

She sat with the Sphinx, the silver fox, and the blue bear. They told stories and laughed until morning.

"I remember!" cried the Sphinx. "My riddle is: What has a heart but no beat, brings joy but has no feet, and grows bigger when you share it?"

"Friendship!" Lily, the fox, and the bear all shouted together.

The Sphinx's wings sparkled golden. Her riddle was saved! The Dream Kingdom would be safe.

"Thank you," the Sphinx said. "You solved something greater than my riddle. You found that friendship itself is the greatest magic of all."

The fox flew Lily home, where she woke up tangled in her hair. Had it all been a dream? On her pillow sat a tiny blue bear figurine made of stardust, glowing softly.

Lily smiled, already planning her next adventure.
