The Sphinx's Golden Hair

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic, especially on rainy afternoons. Hidden behind dusty old trunks, she found a small wooden door she'd never noticed before. When she pushed it open, sunlight poured through, even though it was dark outside!

She stepped through and gasped. A beautiful golden creature lay curled on a soft purple cloud. It had the body of a lion and the head of a wise person, with magnificent golden hair that sparkled like stars.

"Hello, little one," the sphinx said in a voice like gentle bells. "I am Celestia, Guardian of Dreams. But I have a problem."

Lily sat beside the magical creature. "What's wrong?"

Celestia sighed, and her sparkling hair dimmed. "My magical hair keeps my dreams bright and happy. But it's losing its glow because I forgot to take my special sunshine vitamin from the Sun Garden. Without it, I can't give sweet dreams to children."

"I can help!" Lily jumped up. "Where's the Sun Garden?"

"Beyond the Rainbow Bridge," Celestia said. "But you must answer three riddles to cross."

Lily nodded bravely.

"First riddle," the sphinx began. "What has hands but cannot clap?"

Lily thought hard. "A clock!"

"Correct!" Celestia smiled. "Second: What can you catch but cannot throw?"

"A cold!" Lily exclaimed.

"Wonderful! Last riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water?"

"A sponge!" Lily cheered.

"You are clever and kind," the sphinx said. "You may cross the Rainbow Bridge."

Lily found the Sun Garden filled with glowing golden flowers. She picked the brightest one and brought it back to Celestia. The sphinx ate it, and her hair shimmered with renewed magic.

"Thank you, Lily," Celestia said, giving her a warm hug. "For your help, you may visit anytime. And remember—friendship is the best vitamin of all."

Lily returned home with a pocketful of sweet dreams, knowing that kindness is the greatest magic of all.
