The Sphinx's Golden Friend
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. Every summer, she discovered treasures: old photographs, dusty books, and mysterious trunks. But this time, something magical happened.
Behind a stack of boxes, Lily found a small golden pyramid. It glowed softly in her hands. When she touched its smooth surface, the attic melted away like mist in the morning sun.
Suddenly, Lily stood in a desert under twinkling stars. Before her rose a magnificent stone sphinx with the body of a lion and the face of a kind woman. The sphinx's eyes sparkled like diamonds.
"Welcome, young adventurer," the sphinx said gently. "I've been waiting for someone with a pure heart."
Lily wasn't scared. She felt warm and happy, as if she'd found a long-lost friend. "Who are you?"
"I am Seraphina, guardian of the Temple of Wishes. But I'm also very lonely." The sphinx sighed, and her stone shoulders seemed to droop. "For thousands of years, I've guarded this pyramid alone."
A nearby pool rippled, and a beautiful goldfish swam to the surface. Its scales shimmered like rainbows, and its fins flowed like silk ribbons in water.
"This is Finley," Seraphina said, smiling. "He's my only friend, but goldfish cannot speak or play games. We need someone like you."
Finney jumped out of the water and turned into a small boy with golden hair and silver eyes. "Finally! A real friend!" he cheered.
Lily spent the most wonderful night playing games with Seraphina and Finley. They climbed the pyramid's steps, counted constellations, and shared stories. The sphinx's riddles were funny, not hard, and they all laughed until their sides hurt.
As dawn approached, Seraphina gave Lily a gentle hug. "Thank you for reminding me that friendship is the greatest treasure of all. You may visit whenever you wish."
Back in the attic, the golden pyramid still glowed in Lily's hands. She smiled, knowing she would never be lonely again. Sometimes the best adventures aren't about finding gold or jewels—they're about finding friends who understand your heart.
