The Sphinx's Golden Cable
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. On rainy Saturdays, she'd climb the creaky stairs and discover treasures from long ago.
One afternoon, behind a dusty trunk, Lily found something amazing—a small golden sphinx with emerald eyes. It wasn't even as tall as her knee, but it looked ancient and mysterious. The sphinx had tiny wings folded against its back and a mysterious smile.
"Hello, little one," the sphinx said!
Lily gasped. "You can talk?"
"I can do many things," the sphinx replied. "But I need your help. My magic cable is broken."
The sphinx pointed to a thin golden cable wrapped around its paw. It shimmered like captured sunlight, but part of it had gone dark and dull.
"What does your cable do?" Lily asked.
"It connects all the worlds where children dream," the sphinx explained sadly. "Without it, children forget their dreams when they wake up. I need a special vitamin to fix it—a star-vitamin from the moon garden."
Lily's heart raced with excitement. "I'll help you!"
The sphinx's wings unfolded, sparkling with tiny lights. "Hold my paw, brave friend."
Together they soared through a secret portal in the attic wall. They arrived in a magical garden where flowers glowed like lanterns and streams flowed with sparkling liquid silver. In the center grew a single crystal flower pulsing with golden light.
"The star-vitamin!" the sphinx whispered.
But the flower was surrounded by thorny vines. Lily noticed something—the vines were trying to hug the flower, not hurt it. They were lonely!
"You need friends too," Lily said gently. She touched the vines, and they bloomed with tiny rainbow flowers, clearing the path.
The sphinx carefully plucked the star-vitamin and held it against the broken cable. Golden light flooded the darkness, reconnecting the shimmering thread.
"Thank you, Lily," the sphinx said warmly. "You taught me something important—kindness solves problems that magic cannot."
That night, children everywhere remembered their dreams more vividly than ever before. And whenever Lily visited the attic, the sphinx would share stories from dream worlds, their friendship growing stronger with every visit.
