The Sphinx's Digital Secret

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's dusty attic. One rainy afternoon, while hiding from the thunder, she found a strange golden statue tucked behind old boxes. It was a sphinx with emerald eyes that seemed to twinkle.

"I am the Guardian of Stories," the sphinx spoke in a voice like chimes. "Will you help me?"

Lily's eyes widened. "A talking sphinx! Yes, I'll help!"

"My cousin in Egypt is trapped in a magical sleep," the sphinx explained. "I need someone brave to solve three riddles."

Lily nodded eagerly. "I'm ready!"

The sphinx's first riddle was easy: "I have legs but cannot walk. What am I?"

"A table!" Lily answered.

"Correct!" The sphinx purred. "Now, your grandmother's old cable—it glows when magic is near. Follow it."

Lily found a thick black cable in the corner. It shimmered with silver light. "Where does it go?"

"Through the TV," the sphinx said mysteriously. "But you must leave your iPhone here. Technology can't enter the Story Realm."

Lily hesitated. Her iPhone had her favorite games. But the sphinx looked so worried. She set it down.

"Good choice," the sphinx said gently. "Real adventures happen beyond screens."

The cable became a silver path through the television. Lily stepped through—and tumbled into a desert under two moons!

Strange creatures were running toward her—zombie bunnies with fluffy fur and purple flowers growing from their ears.

"We're not scary!" they squeaked. "We're enchanted guardians who forgot how to hop because we stopped playing. Will you teach us?"

Lily laughed and started hopping. The zombie bunnies tried too, wobbling and falling, but soon they were bouncing like rubber balls.

"Thank you!" they cheered. "The sphinx's cousin is in that pyramid!"

Inside, Lily found the little sphinx fast asleep on a pile of golden scrolls.

"Final riddle," whispered the big sphinx from somewhere above. "What never runs but always goes?"

Lily thought hard. Then it clicked. "Time!"

"Correct!" The little sphinx woke up, stretching like a cat. "You freed me with courage and kindness!"

Back in the attic, Lily's iPhone sat exactly where she'd left it. But now it seemed smaller somehow. The sphinx gave Lily a tiny golden pyramid.

"Whenever you need real adventure," it said, "just hold this and remember: magic lives outside screens."
