The Sphinx's Digital Riddle
Lily's orange tabby cat, Whiskers, tugged at her pajama sleeve with unusual urgency. At midnight, Lily followed him to the backyard, where he pawed at her fallen iPhone. When she touched it, the screen glowed with golden letters: "The Sphinx awaits."
A swirl of sparkles surrounded them, and suddenly they stood on a sandy beach beneath a towering palm tree. Before them rose a magnificent Sphinx—golden fur shimmering like morning sunlight, wings folded gracefully.
"Welcome, young one," the Sphinx purred. "I have guarded the Library of Dreams for three thousand years. My riddle has stumped everyone who dared to solve it."
Lily's heart pounded. "What's the riddle?"
The Sphinx's eyes twinkled. "I have a cat who never meows, a palm that never grows, a bull that never charges, and an eye that never closes—but sometimes, they all come alive. What am I?"
Lily's mind raced. Cat, palm, bull, eye... Her iPhone buzzed in her pocket, and suddenly it clicked. The Sphinx was talking about constellations!
"You're the night sky!" Lily exclaimed. "The cat is the constellation Felis, the palm is... part of an ancient star map, the bull is Taurus, and your eye is the moon! And they come alive when we look up and imagine stories connecting them!"
The Sphinx threw back her head and laughed—a sound like wind chimes. "Correct! You see with your heart, not just your eyes."
She presented Lily with a shimmering palm frond. "This will help you remember: imagination makes anything possible. Even ordinary things—like stars, or phones, or cats—become magical when you believe."
Whiskers purred as the Sphinx touched her nose to Lily's forehead. In the blink of an eye, they were back in the backyard. Lily's iPhone showed no messages, but its background had changed to a photo of starry skies.
That night, Lily and Whiskers fell asleep watching constellations through her window. And somewhere, the Sphinx smiled, knowing another dreamer had discovered the universe's greatest secret: magic lives wherever you dare to look for it.
