The Sphinx's Dancing Garden
Leo loved exploring his grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, he found something strange tucked inside an old dusty box — a mysterious silver iPhone covered in Egyptian hieroglyphs.
"What does this do?" Leo wondered. When he pressed the home button, the screen didn't show apps. Instead, it shimmered like desert heat, and suddenly Leo wasn't in the attic anymore.
He stood in a golden desert where a magnificent creature waited. She had the body of a lion and the head of a wise woman — a sphinx!
"Welcome, young friend," the sphinx said gently. "I've been waiting for someone like you. My garden has a terrible problem."
She led Leo to a beautiful oasis garden, but something was wrong. Everywhere he looked, green leafy plants were wiggling and bouncing around!
"This is my magical spinach," the sphinx explained. "But they've become ZOMBIE spinach!"
Leo gasped. "Scary zombies?"
"Oh no," laughed the sphinx. "Not scary zombies. They just won't stay planted! Every night, they pop out of the ground and dance until dawn. They're so tired, but they can't stop."
The spinach indeed looked exhausted, with droopy leaves and sleepy faces, yet they kept wiggling.
Leo thought hard. "My mom sings to me when I can't sleep. Maybe they need lullabies?"
"Brilliant!" said the sphinx.
That night, Leo and his new friend sang soft songs to the dancing spinach. "Sleep little leaves, rest your roots..." The swaying plants slowed down, yawning. One by one, they snuggled back into the earth, finally peaceful.
"Thank you, Leo," the sphinx said, pressing something into his hand. It was a small golden pin shaped like a spinach leaf. "Now you have a friend in the desert whenever you need one."
When Leo opened his eyes, he was back in the attic, the mysterious iPhone dark in his hand. But in his pocket, the golden pin shimmered — proof that magic and friendship are real, and sometimes the scariest problems just need a little kindness and a lullaby.
