The Sphinx's Curly Secret
Lily had the curliest, wildest hair in her whole class. Every morning, her mum tried to tame it with ribbons and clips, but by lunchtime, her hair would spring up like a happy cloud.
One afternoon, while visiting her grandma's house, Lily noticed something strange in the garden pond. A tiny goldfish with shimmering orange scales was swimming in circles, creating patterns that looked like letters.
"Follow me," the bubbles seemed to say.
Curious, Lily followed the pond's edge until she reached an old stone statue she'd never noticed before. It was half-cat, half-human—a sphinx!
But this sphinx wasn't like the ones in books. This one had the biggest, fluffiest mane of curly hair, even wilder than Lily's.
The goldfish leaped from the water and turned into a tiny sphinx, no bigger than Lily's hand.
"I've been waiting for someone with hair as magical as yours," squeaked the tiny sphinx. "Great hair means great imagination!"
Lily gasped. "You mean my crazy hair is... special?"
"The most special!" The tiny sphinx danced on the stone sphinx's nose. "Every curl holds an idea. Every tangle is a dream waiting to happen. The stone sphinx has been asleep for a hundred years because no one with truly magical hair has visited!"
Lily touched her springy curls. She had always wanted straight, smooth hair like her friends. But now...
"What do I do?" she asked.
"Share your imagination with us!" cried the goldfish-sphinx. "Tell us a story!"
So Lily told them everything—about cloud kingdoms, candy forests, and friendly dragons. As she spoke, the stone sphinx's curly mane began to glow. Wind whooshed through the garden. Flowers bloomed in impossible colors.
"Wonderful!" roared the stone sphinx, waking up at last. "Your imagination is the most powerful magic of all. Never let anyone tame your curls—or your dreams!"
That night, Lily went home with her hair still wild and free. She didn't mind the tangles anymore. Each curl was a reminder that her imagination could change the world.
