The Sphinx's Baseball Game

Ten-year-old Mia loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something strange behind an old trunk—a golden sphinx statue with sparkling emerald eyes.

"Hello, young explorer," the sphinx spoke! Mia jumped but didn't run away. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me."

The sphinx explained that he guarded the Magic Realm's most precious treasure: happiness. But first, Mia had to win his favorite game—baseball!

Mia's eyes lit up. Baseball was her favorite sport! The sphinx used a glowing cable to connect his ancient realm to her world. Suddenly, a magical baseball field appeared in the attic.

"But first," said the sphinx, "you must leave behind your distractions." He pointed to Mia's iphone, which she'd been checking every five minutes.

Mia hesitated. The iphone had all her games and friends' messages. But the sphinx said, "True adventures happen when you look up, not down."

She tucked the iphone into her pocket and picked up the magical baseball bat. The sphinx pitched glowing balls that turned into butterflies when hit. They played the most wonderful game ever! Mia laughed and ran, forgetting all about her phone.

When she won, the sphinx smiled proudly. "You've learned the secret, Mia. The real magic isn't in statues or portals. It's in being present, in friendship, and in the joy of the game."

He pressed his paw to her forehead, and suddenly Mia understood—true happiness comes from moments shared with friends, not from screens or gadgets.

The sphinx gave her a small golden baseball. "Keep this. Whenever you need reminding, just hold it and remember our game."

Mia hugged the sphinx goodbye. When she told her grandmother, Grandma smiled. "The Magic Sphinx visits only children with kind hearts and curious minds."

That night, Mia tucked the golden baseball under her pillow. Her iphone sat on the nightstand, dark and quiet. For the first time in months, Mia didn't check it once. She was too busy dreaming of sphinxes, baseball games, and magical adventures.

The next day, Mia called her friends. "Want to play baseball? Real baseball, outside?"

They all said yes. And as they played under the blue sky, Mia noticed something wonderful—her iphone stayed in her pocket, but her heart stayed in the game.
