The Sphinx's Baseball Game

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd practice hitting home runs in his backyard. But one sweltering afternoon, something magical happened.

When Leo swung his favorite bat, the ball soared higher than ever—straight through a shimmering patch of air that smelled like ancient desert sand. He chased after it, tumbling through... and landed on soft golden sand beneath a blazing sun.

Before him stood a magnificent pyramid, its stones glowing like honey in the sunlight. Beside it sat a magnificent creature—the Sphinx, with the body of a lion and the wise face of a human.

"Welcome, young champion," the Sphinx rumbled kindly. "I've waited centuries for someone who could play my favorite game."

Leo's eyes widened. "You know baseball?"

"Baseball is the game of champions!" The Sphinx's tail curled with excitement. "But I cannot play without my magic vitamin. It lies somewhere in my pyramid, behind three clever riddles. Will you help me?"

Leo nodded bravely. Inside the pyramid, ancient hieroglyphs glowed on the walls as the Sphinx posed her riddles. What has hands but cannot clap? A clock! What gets wetter the more it dries? A towel!

Finally, they reached a hidden chamber where a single glowing tablet floated—the magic vitamin.

"Now we can play!" The Sphinx beamed. She explained this wasn't ordinary water; it was enchanted water that made whoever drank it feel strong and healthy, like taking a super vitamin.

Together, they played the most magical baseball game ever. The Sphinx's golden mitt caught every ball Leo hit. When Leo grew thirsty, the enchanted water tasted like sunshine and happiness.

"Thank you, Leo," the Sphinx said as the sun began to set. "You've reminded me that friendship is the greatest magic of all."

She handed him a small glowing stone. "When you return home, keep this. Whenever you need a friend's help, hold it tight."

Leo closed his eyes—and opened them to find himself back in his backyard, the baseball in his glove. In his pocket sat the warm golden stone. It hadn't been a dream.

Every game after that, Leo played with extra joy, knowing his friend the Sphinx was cheering him on from her golden desert. And whenever he felt lonely or scared, he'd squeeze his stone and remember that true friends—and kindness—are the most powerful magic of all.
