The Sphinx's Baseball Game
In a magical backyard where grass blades tickled your ankles, a sphinx named Cleo sat with her fluffy purple hair blowing in the breeze. She wasn't like the sphinxes from old stories—she loved to play!
Every Saturday, Cleo's best friend Sparky—a golden dog with a tail that never stopped wagging—would bring her favorite baseball. "Ready for our game?" Sparky would bark happily.
But this Saturday was different. A zombie shuffled through the garden gate. He looked sad, with messy green hair covering his eyes.
Cleo and Sparky hid behind the big oak tree. "Zombies are scary," whispered Sparky, his ears drooping.
Cleo peeked out. The zombie wasn't scary at all. He was holding an old, dusty baseball glove. He looked lonely.
"Hello?" Cleo called out.
The zombie jumped. "I... I love baseball," he said softly. "But everyone runs away when they see me."
Cleo's riddle-loving heart softened. "Would you like to play with us?"
The zombie's face lit up like sunshine. His name was Zed, and he was the best pitcher ever! He could throw the ball so it danced in the air.
Sparky ran and caught every ball, barking with joy. Cleo asked her magical riddles between innings: "What gets higher when it gets lower?" Zed guessed, "Your age!" and they all laughed.
They played until stars filled the sky. Zed wasn't lonely anymore. He had friends—a sphinx with purple hair, a dog who loved to run, and a whole magical world of baseball Saturdays.
Cleo learned something important that day: sometimes the scariest-looking creatures just need someone to say "hello" and invite them to play.
And that's how the Magical Baseball League was born—where anyone could play, no matter how different they seemed.
