The Sphinx's Baseball Game

Leo loved playing baseball in his backyard, but today the ball sailed over the fence and disappeared. He climbed the old oak tree to peek into his neighbor's yard and gasped. In the middle of their swimming pool floated a tiny golden sphinx, no bigger than a baseball, its wings sparkling like diamonds.

"Are you real?" Leo whispered, leaning too far. He tumbled into the pool with a splash!

But instead of water, he landed on soft purple sand. The sphinx grew to life-size and smiled. "Welcome, Leo! I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me. My name is Cleo."

"Where are we?"

"The Realm Between!" Cleo's tail swished excitedly. "Our kingdom is trapped because our magical palm tree stopped granting wishes. But I know how to save it!"

A magnificent palm tree appeared in the distance, its leaves drooping sadly. "But how do we reach it?" Leo asked.

Cleo pointed to a shimmering cable bridge stretching across the sky. "We must cross together. Hold my paw, and believe!"

The bridge swayed wildly over clouds that looked like cotton candy. Leo's heart pounded. "I can't do this!"

"Magic isn't about being perfect," Cleo said gently. "It's about trying even when you're scared. Trust yourself!"

Leo gripped her paw tighter. One step at a time, they crossed the trembling cable. Below, stars twinkled like fireflies. When they reached the palm tree, it suddenly perked up!

"Thank you!" the tree chimed. "Your courage has freed my magic!" It dropped two perfect baseballs into Leo's hands. "One for you, one for a friend. Share them, and the magic grows!"

Celo nudged Leo. "Ready to go home?" She tossed him into the air, and he splashed back into his pool just as his mom called, "Leo, baseball practice!"

He found the golden sphinx floating beside him—now baseball-sized again. Leo grabbed both sphinx-balls, grinning. He couldn't wait to show his best friend Sarah.

Some magical adventures are meant to be shared.
