The Sphinx in the Phone's Reflection

Lily loved playing with her mother's old iPhone, making funny faces in its shiny screen. One rainy afternoon, she noticed something strange - a tiny golden sphinx winking at her from the phone's reflection in a puddle on the windowsill.

"Come closer," the sphinx seemed to say without speaking. Lily pressed her face close to the glass. The sphinx was no bigger than her thumb, with lion paws and eagle wings, wearing a curious expression.

"I am Cleo, guardian of the Reflecting Realm," the sphinx's voice echoed in Lily's mind. "You can see me because you have the Sight. But to enter my realm, you must prove yourself worthy."

Cleo told Lily about the magical spinach that grew in the garden - ordinary-looking leaves that, when eaten with a pure heart, granted the power to walk through reflections. Lily had always hated spinach, but for adventure, she was willing to try.

That evening at dinner, Lily bravely ate three whole leaves of spinach. Her mother was shocked! "Since when do you like spinach?"

Lily just winked, feeling a warm tingle in her toes.

As the moon rose, she returned to the puddle. Tiny golden lights swirled around her as she touched the water. The sphinx reached through the iPhone's reflection and pulled Lily into a world where everything was made of light and water.

They explored crystal cities beneath Reflecting Lakes, met fish made of starlight, and helped a family of ducklings find their way through a maze of mirrors. Lily learned that bravery wasn't about not being scared - it was about doing the right thing even when you were.

When it was time to leave, Cleo gave Lily a small mirror charm. "Remember," the sphinx said, "magic lives in the most unexpected places. Even in things you think you hate - like spinach!"

Lily woke in her bed, the mirror charm warm against her chest. Outside, the puddle was gone, but her iPhone showed a tiny sphinx winking in its screen. She smiled, wondering what other magic was hiding in plain sight, waiting to be discovered by someone brave enough to try new things.
