The Sphinx in the Palm Tree

palmsphinxfox

Lily loved the old palm tree in her backyard. Its leaves whispered secrets in the wind, and she always felt magic near it. One summer evening, something amazing happened.

A tiny fox with fur like sunset gold appeared at the tree's base. He looked at Lily with wise eyes and spoke! 'I'm Finnegan the fox. The sphinx needs your help!'

Lily's eyes grew wide. 'A sphinx? Here?'

Finnegan nodded. 'She lives in the palm tree's highest branch. But she's forgotten something important. Will you climb with me?'

Lily nodded and followed Finnegan up the tree. They climbed higher and higher until they reached a hidden platform. There sat the sphinx — small and gentle, with soft feathers instead of scary scales.

The sphinx looked sad. 'I've forgotten my riddle,' she said. 'Without it, I can't guard the magic of imagination.'

Lily thought hard. Maybe the riddle wasn't something you memorized — maybe it was something you felt. 'Is the riddle about wonder? About asking why?'

The sphinx's feathers brightened. 'Yes! The riddle is: What grows when you give it away?'

Lily smiled. 'Love! And kindness! And friendship!'

The sphinx cheered, and suddenly Lily understood the real magic. It wasn't in knowing answers — it was in staying curious, asking questions, and sharing joy with friends.

Finnegan the fox did a happy dance. 'You saved imagination! Now children everywhere will keep wondering and dreaming.'

That night, Lily fell asleep under the palm tree, knowing that the best adventures are the ones you share with friends — and that curiosity is the greatest magic of all.
