The Sphinx in Her Palm

Lily loved to sit by the garden pond, watching the goldfish dart between lily pads. One sunny afternoon, she held out her palm to feel the warm breeze, and something amazing happened.

A tiny sphinx, no bigger than a button, appeared in her palm! It had wings like a hummingbird and fur like a kitten.

"Hello, small friend!" the sphinx said in a sparkly voice. "I'm Cleo, guardian of the Hidden Pyramid. Will you help me?"

Lily nodded, her eyes wide with wonder.

Cleo fluttered her wings, and suddenly a miniature pyramid rose from the garden grass. It glowed with golden light, just big enough for a child to crawl inside.

"My friend Finny is trapped inside," Cleo explained. "The goldfish forgot to swim home before sunset, and now the pyramid doors are sealed!"

Lily carefully crawled through the tiny entrance. Inside, walls sparkled like stars, and at the center sat a beautiful crystal pool. Finny the goldfish swam there, looking lonely.

"Don't worry, Finny!" Lily called. But how could she help a fish who needed water to leave?

Then she remembered her water bottle from school. She poured water into her cupped hands, creating a path for Finny. Cleo used her magic to make the water float like a silver ribbon.

Finny swam along the magical water path all the way back to the garden pond!

"Thank you, Lily!" Cleo said, pressing a tiny kiss to Lily's palm. "You learned that helping others, no matter their size, makes you the biggest kind of hero."

The pyramid vanished, but Lily's palm still tingled with magic. Now every time she visits her goldfish friend, she remembers: true friends come in all sizes, and kindness is the greatest adventure of all.
