The Sphinx at the Pool's Edge

Lily loved the old pool behind her house. It wasn't just any pool—it shimmered with magic, especially at sunset. One evening, while running barefoot through the grass, she spotted something amazing.

A golden sphinx sat beside the water, its lion body gleaming like honey, wings folded gently, wise eyes watching.

"You're fast," the sphinx purred, "but are you brave enough for my challenge?"

Lily nodded, her heart beating like a little drum.

"Tomorrow," said the sphinx, "you have your big padel match. You're scared you'll lose. But I have something special." The sphinx extended a paw, revealing a glowing purple orb. "This is a courage vitamin. It's not medicine—it's magic. Take it before you play, and remember: the real game isn't against others. It's against your own fears."

Lily took the vitamin, feeling warmth spread through her fingers.

"Now run," the sphinx said. "Run like you're flying. Run toward your dreams, not away from them."

Lily ran all the way home, faster than ever before. The next day, she held the courage vitamin before her match. She swallowed it and stepped onto the court.

Something magical happened. Every time she hit the ball, she remembered the sphinx's wisdom. She played joyfully, bravely, beautifully. She didn't win every point, but she won something better—she conquered her fear.

That evening, she ran back to the pool. The sphinx was gone, but a single golden feather remained. Lily picked it up, knowing the magic would stay with her always.

Now whenever she faces something scary, she remembers: running toward challenges makes you stronger than any magic could.
