The Sphinx and the Storm
In the land of ancient Egypt, young Zara loved exploring the desert near her home. One evening, she discovered something amazing—a small sphinx cub, curled up near the old temple ruins.
The sphinx had golden fur and tiny wings that fluttered weakly. But instead of asking riddles like the big sphinxes in stories, this little one just sneezed. Achoo!
"I'm Leo," the sphinx said sadly. "I'm supposed to guard the temple treasures, but I'm too weak. I need something special to make me strong again."
"What do you need?" Zara asked, patting his soft head.
"A lightning vitamin," Leo whispered. "It only appears in the sky during the biggest storms. My grandmother told me about them—magical glowing vitamins that fall with the lightning bolts. They give sphinxes their power to fly and protect sacred places."
Zara's eyes widened. "But we're having a huge storm tonight! I saw it on the weather map!"
Together, they waited as the sun set and dark clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy. Lightning flashed across the sky in brilliant purple and gold streaks.
"There!" Zara pointed. "Look at that lightning bolt—it's different!"
A single bolt of lightning struck the sand, and instead of burning, it created a small crater filled with glowing orange crystals shaped like tiny vitamins.
Leo scampered over and ate three of the magical vitamins. His fur began to shine brighter than the moon. His wings grew stronger, flapping with power. He let out a happy roar that echoed across the desert.
"Thank you, Zara!" Leo nuzzled her cheek. "You helped me when no one else would. That's the most important kind of strength."
From that night on, Zara visited Leo every week. She learned that real power isn't just about being strong—it's about having friends who help you find your way, even in the darkest storms.
And sometimes, if you look carefully during a lightning storm, you might still see Leo flying overhead, guarding the temple and watching over the children who believe in magic.
