The Sphinx and the Sparkle Vitamins
Lily's golden retriever, Buster, loved adventures. One sunny afternoon, he dug a hole so deep that something tumbled out—a tiny, stone sphinx no bigger than a teacup!
"Greetings, brave dog," squeaked the sphinx, shaking dust from her stone wings. "I am Cleopatra, Guardian of the Riddles. But alas, I've lost my sparkle!"
Buster tilted his head. The sphinx looked sad. Her usually bright gemstone eyes were dull and gray.
"What happened?" Lily asked, kneeling beside them.
"I haven't taken my magic vitamins for three hundred years!" Cleopatra sighed. "In the enchanted garden beyond the old oak tree grows the Rainbow Flower. Its petals make the most powerful vitamins in the world. Without them, I can't guard the forest's secrets anymore."
Buster barked excitedly. He was ready for an adventure!
Through the Whispering Woods they went, past trees that giggled when the wind blew. The sphinx rode on Buster's back, telling stories of ancient Egypt and pharaohs who loved riddles.
"What's your favorite riddle?" Lily asked.
Cleopatra's eyes twinkled. "What has legs but cannot walk?"
"A table!" Lily guessed.
"Correct! You're clever!"
Finally, they reached the Rainbow Flower. Its petals shimmered with every color imaginable. Buster carefully plucked one petal—blue like the sky, pink like cotton candy, and golden like sunshine.
Cleopatra nibbled the petal. POOF! Her gemstone eyes sparkled again, brighter than stars. Her stone wings turned rainbow-colored.
"Thank you, friends!" She danced in the air. "Now I can return to my duty—guarding the forest's magic and sharing riddles with curious children who visit me."
"Will we see you again?" Lily asked.
"Every full moon, I sit by the old oak tree. Come visit, and I'll tell you riddles. But remember—" Cleopatra tapped her nose, "the best adventures are the ones you share with friends!"
That night, Buster dreamed of sphinxes and rainbow vitamins. And sometimes, if you look carefully at the old oak tree, you might still see a tiny, sparkly sphinx waiting to share riddles with brave adventurers and their faithful dogs.
