The Sphinx and the Golden Vitamin
Lily loved playing padel with her grandfather at the old park near the desert's edge. Every Saturday, they'd hit the yellow ball back and forth, laughing as it bounced against the stone wall. But today, something magical happened.
As Lily ran to catch a high ball, she spotted something incredible behind an ancient cactus—a small golden sphinx with emerald eyes, no bigger than her hand. The sphinx looked sad and lonely.
"Hello," Lily whispered, kneeling beside it. The sphinx's eyes sparkled.
"I've been waiting for a friend," the sphinx said in a chime-like voice. "I guard the Secret Spring of Wishes, but I haven't had anyone to share it with."
Lily's eyes widened. "A secret spring?"
The sphinx nodded and led her to a hidden cave where crystal-clear water flowed from a glittering rock. "This isn't ordinary water," the sphinx explained. "It's infused with a special vitamin—one drop gives you the courage to try new things and make new friends."
Lily thought of the new girl at school who always sat alone at lunch. She took a tiny sip, and warmth spread through her chest like sunshine.
The sphinx smiled. "Now you have the magic within you. But remember—the real magic isn't in the water. It's in you."
On Monday, Lily sat beside the new girl, whose name was Aisha. They discovered both loved padel, and soon became best friends. Every Saturday, Lily and Aisha played padel with Lily's grandfather, and sometimes—just sometimes—they'd visit their small sphinx friend, who always reminded them that the bravest thing you can do is say hello to someone new.
