The Sphinx and the Friendship Potion

Leo was the shyest boy in Sunshine Valley. He wanted to make friends, but his tummy felt funny whenever he tried to talk to anyone.

One afternoon, while hiding in his grandmother's dusty attic, Leo discovered an ancient wooden box. Inside was a tiny statue of a sphinx — a creature with a lion's body, eagle wings, and a human face.

"Greetings, young friend," the sphinx said, suddenly coming to life! She stretched her golden wings and sprinkled sparkling dust around the room. "I am Cleopatra, Guardian of Friendship Magic. I have been sleeping for one hundred years!"

Leo's eyes grew wide. "You're real!"

"Indeed," Cleopatra purred. "But I am weak. My magic comes from friendship, and I sense you need help too. What brings you to this attic alone?"

Leo sighed. "I want to make friends, but I'm too scared."

Cleopatra's emerald eyes twinkled. "Then we shall help each other! I know just the spell." She waved her paw, and Leo's vitamin bottle floated toward them. The sphinx tapped it with her claw, and the vitamins began to glow rainbow colors.

"Now these are Friendship Vitamins," she explained. "Each morning, take one while thinking of a kind thought for someone. Then speak that thought aloud. The magic will do the rest!"

The next day, Leo took his glowing vitamin and thought about Maya, the girl who loved books just like him. At school, he found the courage to say, "I really like your book about dragons, Maya."

Maya beamed. "Want to read it together at recess?"

By Friday, Leo had three new friends. His Friendship Vitamins had worked!

When he returned to the attic, Cleopatra had grown strong and beautiful again. "Thank you, Leo," she said. "Your courage has restored my magic. Remember, true friendship isn't about potions or spells. It's about being brave enough to share your heart."

Leo hugged the sphinx. "You're my best friend ever, Cleopatra."

"And you, brave Leo," she whispered, "are mine."
