The Sleepy Guardian's Game
Lily loved exploring behind her grandmother's garden, where the flowers glowed softly at dusk. One evening, she heard a strange moaning sound and spotted something green shuffling between the roses.
"Is that a zombie?" Lily whispered, hiding behind a sunflower. But then the creature yawned deeply, rubbing its eyes with mossy hands. It wasn't scary at all—it was just sleepy!
"I'm Barnaby," the zombie mumbled. "I guard this garden, but I keep falling asleep at my post."
Suddenly, a majestic sphinx with golden feathers fluttered down from an oak tree. "Barnaby needs proper exercise to stay awake!" she declared. "I'm Cleo, and I know just the solution."
Cleo led them to a magical court hidden behind ivy vines. There, a gentle bull with a coat like storm clouds was waiting.
"This is Bruno," Cleo said. "We play padel together every sunset! It's the most magnificent game—hitting a magical ball back and forth keeps us all energized."
Lily's eyes widened. She'd never played padel before! Bruno handed her a racket that sparkled with fairy dust. The ball bounced with tiny rainbows trailing behind it.
At first, Lily kept missing. But Bruno was patient. "Everyone starts somewhere," he said kindly. Barnaby cheered from the sidelines, getting more awake with every cheer. Cleo laughed whenever someone made a funny mistake.
As they played, Lily realized something wonderful: these weren't scary monsters at all. They were just friends who needed each other. Barnaby needed exercise to stay alert. Cleo needed company. Bruno needed someone to play with.
By the time the moon rose, Lily was hitting the ball perfectly, and Barnaby was dancing with energy. "Thank you, Lily!" Cleo purred. "You've reminded us that the best magic happens when friends help each other."
Lily returned every evening after that. She learned that things that seem different or scary might just be misunderstood. Sometimes, all someone needs is a friend and a game of magical padel under the stars.
