The Sleepy Goldfish's Secret Dream

In a cozy blue bowl sat Fin, a tiny goldfish with shimmering orange scales. But Fin had a secret — he spent hours floating perfectly still, barely moving his gills.

"He's like a zombie goldfish!" laughed Marina, the little girl who fed him each morning. She'd tap the glass, but Fin wouldn't wiggle or dart around like her friend's fish.

One afternoon, Marina fell asleep with her cheek against the cool glass. She dreamed she was swimming — not in her bathtub, but in a magical ocean made entirely of twinkling stars. The water tasted like strawberry bubbles. Rainbow seahorses galloped through coral castles.

Suddenly, she spotted Fin! But he wasn't a zombie at all. His scales glowed like tiny suns, and he was leading a parade of clownfish through underwater tunnels of light. He spun and leaped, creating swirls of glitter wherever he swam.

"You're not sleepy!" Marina called.

Fin turned and smiled. "In my bowl, I'm just dreaming of this place. But here, I can truly go swimming!"

Marina woke with a start. Fin was floating in the same spot, motionless. But now Marina understood. Fin wasn't boring or zombie-like at all. While his body rested in the little bowl, his heart explored vast, magical oceans.

That night, Marina left a special pebble near his bowl — a shimmering stone from her dream travels. "For your adventures," she whispered.

And sometimes, when the room was very quiet, Marina could almost hear the splash of invisible waves, and see tiny sparkles dancing around her sleepy, dreaming goldfish.
